As the evenings grow longer and with summer just around the corner, it’s officially time to rediscover the British tradition of picnicking. Boasting acres of beautiful parkland dotting the urban metropolis, there is no better city in which to enjoy a sumptuous feast in the open air than London, and National Picnic Week, 11-19 June 2016, is the perfect excuse to dine al fresco.
This year, forget about lugging bags, rugs and baskets across the city and instead, opt for a ready-made feast, specially prepared by chefs at the five-star Milestone Hotel in Kensington.
The Milestone Hotel occupies a prime location directly opposite Kensington Palace and Gardens, one of eight Royal Parks in the capital. As part of the hotel‘s Picnic in the Park service, staff will prepare a comfortable picnic space in the nearby park and deliver traditional wicker baskets filled with freshly baked treats and sandwiches.
The Picnic Feast menu offers a range of delicate finger sandwiches plus a succulent and crispy sesame crusted corn fed chicken with coleslaw, freshly baked bread, prawn and crayfish cocktail, smoked salmon and cheese platter, a selection of tasty pastries and a half bottle of Champagne.
For those wishing to indulge in one of The Milestone’s famed Afternoon Tea’s in the glorious outdoors, the hotel can arrange a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream and preserves, French pastries, cupcakes, shortbread, a pot of tea and some bubbly, all to be enjoyed on a lazy London afternoon amongst the picturesque setting.
The Milestone’s Afternoon Tea and Picnic Feast can be altered to cater to specific dietary requirements and are available starting from £110.00 for two people including a half bottle of Champagne. A sample menu is available for download on the website here. To make a picnic booking, please call 020 7917 1011 or email email@example.com.
