The historic Peter Pan Cup swimming competition will take place on Christmas morning in Hyde Park once again this year.

Swimmers have been meeting in the London park each December 25th since 1864, while the Peter Pan Cup has been presented annually since the trophy was donated by author JM Barrie back in 1904, the same year his legendary play made its debut.

The race is contested by members of the famous Serpentine Swimming Club, who will swim 100 yards in icy waters for a chance to become part of the competition's illustrious history.

Spectators are welcome to come and watch the race, which begins at 09:00 GMT on Christmas Day, with organisers advising guests to wrap up warm.

The Egerton House Hotel offers a number of packages that could appeal to luxury London hotel guests this Christmas, including the Magical London offer.

It includes welcome treats such as mulled wine and mince pies, plus a festive afternoon tea and a Christmas turndown gift.
