Event: Meltdown Festival at the Southbank Centre

What better way to get into the swing of summer than by attending one of the quirkiest music events in London?
Those staying at luxury London hotel the Rubens at the palace can travel to the nearby Southbank Centre between June 14th and June 24th 2008 to get involved in the action.
Each year since the festival's conception in 1993, the event has been organised and delivered by a different musician, in 2007 Jarvis Cocker led the proceedings, while other big names have included Bad Seed Nick Cave, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Morrissey and Lee Scratch Perry.
Visitors staying at luxury London hotel the Rubens can expect to see impressive artists at this June's event, with Bowie's festival including Asian Dub Foundation, Badly Drawn Boy, Coldplay, Gonzales, Harry Hill, Suede, Supergrass, The Dandy Warhols and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Guests of luxury London hotel who attended the festival in 2007 will have been entertained by Cornershop, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Motorhead and Roky Erickson among others.
There was no festival held in 2006 as the Royal Festival Hall was closed for refurbishment.
