Green and Pleasant Land: Guy Johnston Plays Walton

Event: Green and Pleasant Land: Guy Johnston Plays Walton
Date: May 13th 2008

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing at Cadogan Hall, not far from luxury London hotel the Milestone this May.

Featuring Vernon Handley and Guy Johnston, guests can see the Green and Pleasant Land: Guy Johnston Plays Walton performance on May 13th 2008.

Offering a rendition of Walton's Cello Concerto will be the inimitable Johnston, while Elgar's Serenade for Strings and Vaughan Williams' Fourth Symphony will be also be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Serenade is described by Cadogan Hall as one of Elgar's "intimate creations" which masks the "depth of feeling to be found in the central slow movement".

Visitors from nearby luxury London hotel the Milestone will discover Mediterranean "warmth" and contrasts between the somnolent and brisk rhythms in Walton's Cello Concerto.

Vaughan Williams' Fourth Symphony was completed in the shadow of the second world war and as such, exhibits anger and intensity that reflect unsettled times, the hall notes.
