A new exhibition funded by the Arts Council of England is set to run at the National Maritime Museum in London from this spring.

From May 1st until October 26th 2008, guests staying at luxury London hotel the Chesterfield Mayfair will be able to attend the Simon Patterson: The Undersea World and Other Stories display at the London nautical museum.

Simon Patterson's exhibition is his first solo show at a London museum and includes a collection of work that has been compiled over the last decade.

The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau, tells the story of Cousteau - a pioneering scientist who developed the aqualung explored the deep seas.

Other stories include Patterson's work reworking of the London Underground map, films The Great Bear, Monkey Business, Sister Ships - four industrial-scale sculptures of ships from the White Star Line and Untitled (Sails) from 1996, a set of giant racing sails "bearing references to the writers Raymond Chandler, Laurence Sterne and Currer Bell (Charlotte Bronte)".

For guests of luxury hotel the Chesterfield Mayfair who are unfamiliar with Patterson, the artist was born in 1967 and was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1996.

His work has featured in the Tate Collection, the Museum of Modern Art and many other famous locations.
