The Merry Widow

One of the more famous and best-loved operettas, The Merry Widow, is playing at the London Coliseum this spring and would be a fantastic evening's entertainment for any guest staying at luxury London hotel the Milestone.

The tale is told of recently widowed glamour puss Hanna Glawari, who is on the prowl for a new husband.

Featuring a ball set in a Parisian embassy, to celebrate the birthday of the sovereign, the Grand Duke and elaborate plan is set up to ensure the wealth of the widow remains in the country.

Guests staying at luxury London hotel will have their first opportunity in more than 20 years to see the production at the Coliseum from April 24th until May 30th 2008.

Taking up the title role will be Olivier Award-winning soprano Amanda Roocroft, supported by leading tenor Alfie Boe as Camille, Count de Rosillon, Roy Hudd as embassy secretary Njegus and Richard Suart as Baron Zeta.

Directed by "renowned" opera and theatre director, John Copley, audiences can also expect impressive and detailed costumes by Deidre Clancy and choreography by Anthony Van Laast and Nichola Treherne.
