Open Air Theatre

Event: Open Air Theatre
Date: June 2nd until September 3rd 2008

This summer for a theatre break with a difference try out London's Open Air Theatre, which is the only permanent professional outdoor theatre in Britain.

Popular for its Shakespearean productions such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Open Air Theatre attracts guests staying at luxury London hotel the 41 to its picnic lawn, to enjoy a few glasses of wine under the fairy lights that are strung between the trees.

In 2008, those on family breaks at the 41 can watch a Midsummer Night's Dream, which it is claimed is "an ideal first experience of theatre and Shakespeare for children".

Other productions that are on this summer at the Open Air Theatre include Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night and Gigi.

Showing that the theatre is about more than simply Shakespeare, Lerner and Loewe's Gigi based on a novel by Colett will take place between August 6th and September 13th 2008.

Set against the Parisian Belle Epoque, Gigi breaks away from convention by capturing the heart of a rich playboy.
