Patrons of luxury London hotel the Egerton may wish to take a trip to Camden this summer to see The Chalk Garden at Donmar Warehouse.

Inspired by author Enid Bagnold's own garden at North End House in Rottingdean, near Brighton, this theatre production was originally staged in London's Theatre Royal Haymarket in April 1956.

The story is told of 16-year old Laurel, a girl raised by the sea in a manor house where the flowers find it difficult to grow.

Laurel runs wild and escapes her loneliness by living in a world of fantasy while her unconventional grandmother tends to the garden.

Following the appointment of new governess, the dysfunctional household begins to change as her mysterious presence is felt.

A dark comedy, this production - which runs from June 5th until August 2nd 2008 - is sure to entertain guests staying at Red Carnation Hotels in London.
