Event: The Mayor's Thames Festival on the banks of the river

On September 13th and 14th the capital will spring into life with the tenth annual Mayor's Thames Festival, celebrating London's famous river with an amazing array of street theatre, choral recitals, pyrotechnics, music, illuminations and river events.
Chief marketing officer of event-sponsors Barclaycard Elizabeth G Chambers comments: "The Thames Festival is a truly unique celebration of the capital, its river and its cultural diversity.
"For two days in September the south bank reverberates to the joyous sounds of music from around the world, the laughter of children and the cheers of visitors."
Highlights of the weekend festival will include the Al Fresco Ballrooms, themed feasts on Southwark Bridge and a dramatic night carnival and firework display as the climax of the event.
Last year's event attracted a record-breaking three-quarters of a million spectators.
