Event: London Literature Festival at the Southbank Centre
Date: July 5th to 19th 2008
The London Literature Festival is taking place next month, bringing a number of events to the Southbank Centre.
Andrew O'Hagan, Jenny Diski, Ferdinand Mount and Colm Toibin will be arriving at the Purcell Room to discuss the concept of the essay as a literary form.
There will also be an evening with Richard Sennett, sculptor Grayson Perry, tenor Ian Bostridge and writer Marina Warner to discuss the value and importance of craftsmanship in the digital age.
Individuals hoping to stay in the capital for the festival might wish to book into the luxury London hotel the Rubens.
Other notable events include Dirty Books, a celebration of literary promiscuity, and an evening with Wendy Cope, during which she will read some of her poems, both old and new.
The Southbank Centre itself is situated on the south bank of the River Thames and consists of a number of meeting halls and a library. It is home to the Arts Council Collection and is responsible for the organisation of the National Touring Exhibition programme.
