If you have a strong backbone and are staying at luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens this summer, why not visit a macabre but fascinating exhibition at Wellcome Collection in Camden.

Skeletons of 26 former residents of England's capital city, loaned out by the Museum of London's Centre for Human Bioarchaeology, are due go on display at Wellcome Collection from July 23rd until September 28th 2008.

The exhibition, called Skeletons: London's buried bones date back to show 2,000 years of London history.

Visitors to the exhibition can learn about the lifestyle of former Londoners, from health and diet to illness and diseases.

A 22-week-old foetus is among the skeletons featured while at the other end of the age spectrum, remains of 84-year old William Wood, a Chelsea butcher who died in 1842 are among the collection.

Other inclusions include the bones of a young female found with green bones thanks to copper residues from her burial site at the Royal Mint.

"We need archaeological information to bring them back to life…It's not just about learning about the past, it has implications for now and potentially for the future too," Jelena Bekvalac of the Museum of London's Centre for Human Bioarchaeology, commented.
