A cutting edge exhibition is due to be held at Pitzhanger Manor in Walpole Park in London this summer.
Guests of Red Carnation Hotels such as luxury London hotel the Egerton can see images taken by Hans Stakelbeek in his retrospective Out of the Dust - Life in Afghanistan between July 30th and August 31st 2008.
In 2007 the photographer was commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to document Afghanistan's reconstruction.
The images used in the exposition are from four trips made to Afghanistan last year by Stakelbeek, focusing on Kabul and Uruzgan as well as other remote areas.
Out of the Dust documents not only the reconstruction efforts, but the lives and stories of the people the Dutch photographer met and became acquainted with during his time in Afghanistan.
Attempts of local people to continue with their lives as best as possible are demonstrated through shots of families building new homes and children attending school, while Stakelbeek's own words accompany the images.
