Event: London Open House Weekend
Date: September 20th and 21st 2008
London Open House Weekend takes place this September, the free yearly event that allows Britons, including those staying at luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens, to get inside some of the city's more famous architectural sites.
According to the organisers, the event is about "opening eyes, minds and doors to good design", and with more than 600 buildings taking part, the latter will certainly be true.
A unique event, Open House looks to raise standards in architecture in the capital city, as well as to offer a learning direct experience of "spaces and places" to participants.
While Londoners will be encouraged to explore and re-examine the city, travellers staying at luxury hotel the Montague should also feel free to get stuck into the debate on how architecture can play a part in people's daily lives.
Open House aims to promote "architectural excellence" and relay how architecture and design can have an impact on broader social issues and also to get young and old members of society involved in strategic development for an architecturally better environment.
From stately homes to public architectural marvels, this promises to be a great weekend of visiting.
