Event: The Threepenny Ring Cycle
Date: August 12th until August 16th 2008
Theatre trips are an essential element of any break in London and as such guests staying at luxury London hotel the Egerton may wish to take a trip to the National Theatre this summer to see the Threepenny Ring Cycle.
Richard Wagner's story of Seigfried, Brunnhilde and the Valkyries is performed by Les Grooms and is reduced from its marathon running time of 16 hours to a succinct 79 minutes.
However, this reduction in no way detracts from the punch the performance packs according to Total Theater: "This is not a parody of the Ring, but a celebration - we were treated to a theatrical coup worthy of any production of the Ring."
Wagner's operatic treat has been adapted for an orchestra of brass band, percussion and vocalists and is "spiced up" with music including Yiddish folk and "klezmer rhythms".
For an extra special theatre break, why not make the most of luxury London hotel the Egerton's special offer.
Egerton Sparkle includes a bottle of Champagne, a "fabulous" home cooked meal and complimentary day passes to the nearby Platinum LA Fitness Health Club.
