Event: Ivanov at Wyndham's Theatre
Date: September 12th to November 29th 2008
One of the world's leading dramatic talents is set to take centre stage at Wyndham's Theatre this autumn.
Kenneth Branagh will be playing the lead in Ivanov, the first play written by Anton Chekhov. The play focuses on Nikolai Ivanov, a Russian landowner battling with debt.
Pursued by small-town intrigues and increasingly crippled with despair, Ivanov finds himself in a state of stagnation, just as his homeland stands on the brink of revolutionary times.
Previews of this new adaptation by Tom Stoppard begin on September 12th, with public performances running from the week after until November 29th.
Wyndham's Theatre opened in 1899 and was the first West End theatre to be designed by the renowned architect William Sprague.
Guests at the Montague on the Gardens are well placed to visit some more of Sprague's gems - particularly if they take advantage of one deal being offered at the luxury hotel.
The Montague's It's Showtime package provides guests with a pair of tickets to a show of their choice, subject to availability.
