Weymouth Speed Week at Portland Harbour

Taking place between October 4th and 10th, the competition at Portland Harbour gathers all manner of daredevils seeking to break the world speed sailing record.

One of the main attractions of the event to competitors is the lack of rules - boats, surfers, sailboards and kiteboards are among the various vessels spectators can watch zipping across the still waters.

Families with a love of water sports might also like to pay a visit to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, at which the sailing events of the 2012 Olympics are to take place.
