Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree and Carols

Event: Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree and Carols
Date: December 4th until January 5th

The Christmas tree is as important to the celebration as roast turkey for some people and Trafalgar Square will once again welcome a stunning tree the capital.

Since 1947, the people of Norway have donated a tree to their counterparts in London as a sign of goodwill and gratitude for Britain's support of the country in World War 2.

Visitors will be treated to a 20-foot spruce which will be decorated in the traditional Norwegian way, complete with hundreds of lights bathing the shrub, giving it a bright white colour.

The lighting ceremony will be attended by the lord mayor of Westminster, while there will also be a band present, filling the London air with music as the countdown to Christmas begins.

In addition, between Monday December 8th and Friday December 19th, Trafalgar Square will host several groups singing Christmas carols, with everybody welcome to take part.

Those keen to welcome the festive period with song will need somewhere to warm their cold faces afterwards and a suite at the luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens could be the place.

As children in particular love Christmas, why not opt for the Family Package, which will provide mum and dad with a Classic King room, and the youngsters with a room next door for half price.
