Lohengrin at the Royal Opera House

Event: Lohengrin
Date: April 27th until May 16th

Lohengrin is one of the most famous and easily accessible operas Wagner ever wrote and also boasts one of the most famous pieces of music ever composed - the Bridal Chorus - which is traditionally played at weddings.

The story begins when King Henry arrives at in Brabant, planning to raise an army to expel the Hungarian occupiers from his land.

He gets there to find the forces leaderless, with their captain Gottfried nowhere to be seen.

Elsa, Gottfried's sister, is accused of murdering him but to prove her innocence she asks for a battle of moral combat and Lohengrin, a knight in shining armour, arrives to fight her corner.

He defeats his challenger and asks Elsa to become his wife, making her swear never to ask his name.

Smitten with her handsome warrior Elsa agrees but she becomes the victim of a cunning plan led by those who seek to destroy Lohengrin, asking questions about his identity and turning their dream into a nightmare.

This is a vintage production sure to leave audience members thrilled with what they are witnessing, similar in many ways to the experience one can enjoy at the luxury London hotel the Chesterfield Mayfair.

Several packages are available at the establishment but couples on a romantic break may like the A Room With Every Bottle of Louise Roederer Cristal deal.

This includes a bottle of Louis Roederer cristal champagne, a full English breakfast each morning, a complimentary newspaper and WiFi.
