Watch the boats battle it out in Geneva

Event: The Bol d'Or Race
Date: June 12 - 14

Boating fans will be descending on Geneva this summer as hundreds of yachts take to the sea in a race.

The Bol d'Or Race is held on Lake Geneva where 600 boats battle it out for the Golden Cup, with many also turning out to watch the race.

However, participants are warned that the competition is not just for fun as the lake reaches depths of one kilometre in places and can have a treacherous current at times.

Attendees will also be able to get a good view of the picturesque surrounding, which has mountains in the background.

Those staying at the nearby luxury Geneva hotel d'Angleterre will want to book a few nights' stay, as the race plays out across three days, from June 12th to 15th.

Sunday, the final day, is likely to be the most exciting, as the winners are crowned and a drinks party and prize giving is held in the evening.

While staying at Hotel d'Angleterre, guests can opt for the Classic Weekend package, which includes a buffet breakfast and a welcome cocktail.
