Event: The British Museum
Date: All year round
People looking for a great family day out should look no further than the British Museum, where kids can both learn and play.
Open from 10:00 to 17:00 BST every day and with free entry, the London location has various exhibitions spanning a number of different eras.
Kids learning about the mummies at school will love the range of displays at the British Museum, which include the Journey into the Mummy exhibition, allowing children to look inside the wrappings of a mummy.
Families can also see the animal mummies and learn how the various creatures were preserved in ancient Egyptian times.
Other events currently being held include the Intimates Portrait exhibition, which has drawings, miniatures and pastels from the 1730s to the 1830s.
Artists included in the show are Thomas Gainsborough, Richard Cosway, David Wilkie and Reynolds, with it including work from the National Galleries of Scotland and the British Museum.
The British Museum is also hosting the Shah 'Abbas exhibition, exploring 17th century Iran, focusing on the country's leader and his social, religious and artistic influence on Iran.
Families wanting to relax after a hard day of being a culture vulture can rest their head at the luxury London hotel The Montague on the Gardens.
While there, guests can opt for the Shah 'Abbas: The Remaking Of Iran package, which includes entry to the exhibition, breakfast and a plush room.
