Event: See a show at Hackney Empire
Date: All year
Some of the most famous names in the world of performing arts and showbiz have taken to the stage at the Hackney Empire with a dream to become somebody.
Everybody from Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel to WC Fields and Marie Lloyd passed through its doors, beginning their journeys on the road to stardom in this small corner of east London.
Many moons have passed since those days but the empire's ethos has remained the same - to provide something for everyone to enjoy.
This is reflected in the current programme, with highlights including performances from King Toadfish and the All Weather Riders and side-splitting hilarity from Dibi and Glenda Jaxson in their Dis Shoodbe on TV routine.
There is also the Judith Jacob Yabba Yabbas with friends show, which will see experienced TV star Judith talk to singers, actors and other comedians to find out what goes on in their minds, with two celebrities interviewed each night.
The Hackney Empire is one of the country's leading variety theatres and the luxury London hotel the 41 is the top place to stay, so why not book a suite to make sure the holiday in the capital is as perfect as can be?
Guests who opt for the 41 Sparkle package can sip complimentary champagne, have access to the chef's pantry and be served a full English breakfast the following morning.
