Event: Anthony Gormley - One and Other
Date: July 6th until October 14th
The Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square is a space normally reserved for statues of kings and generals.
However, this summer, guests at the luxury London hotel the Chesterfield Mayfair will, for one hour, be allowed to turn it into a place to perform, demonstrate or reflect, as part of an ambitious project from the world-renowned sculptor Anthony Gormley.
For his One and Other exhibition, he is asking people to occupy the plinth in an image of themselves and a representation of the whole of humanity, with one person performing, per hour, every hour for 100 days.
Open to anyone and everyone living or staying in the UK, this is an opportunity to take part in one of the most original and interesting art exhibitions that will be witnessed in the capital this year.
Those who do not fancy being centre stage can simply go along and see how different individuals express something about themselves and the nation, giving various insights into how people see one another, themselves and the country in which they live.
Visitors who do step up to the plinth can head back to the Chesterfield Mayfair after performing and enjoy A Room With Every Bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal package, which promises fabulous champagne, a full English breakfast each morning and a complimentary newspaper.
