Event: Quilts 1700-2010
Date: March 20th until July 4th
A very special exhibition is coming to the Victoria and Albert Museum this spring.
Quilts 1700-2010 will see the museum's so far unseen collection of quilts go on public display for the first time, with some of the most intricate and detailed pieces of embroidery ever created being shown.
Highlights include a sumptuous and velvet bedcover, with an oral narrative that links it to King Charles II's visit to an Exeter manor house in the late 17th century.
There will be more recent examples from some of the most influential figures in the art world, including Grayson Perry and Tracey Emin, along with commissions from the likes of Caren Garfen and Sue Stockwell.
In addition to striking examples, the curator's have unravelled some of the complex cultural narratives behind these creations, putting them into context and highlighting their significance.
Those visiting a special exhibition will need a special hotel to stay in afterwards.
There is nowhere else in the capital which can match the comfort and class of the luxury London hotel the Egerton House Hotel, which is less than five minutes away from the museum.
As well as providing a comfortable stay, the hotel has a dedicated Art & Culture at the V&A package, which includes two night's accommodation, two tickets to an exhibition of choice, traditional afternoon tea and much more.
