Event: Les pecheurs de perles in Concert at the Royal Opera House
Date: October 4th-7th
A sample of work by French composer Georges Bizet is set to be performed at The Royal Opera House for the first time in 90 years this October.
Bizet is perhaps best known for his work on Carmen, but Les Pecheurs de perles can offer guests at luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens music to rival the duet Au fond du temple saint, which is perhaps one of the best known in the opera world.
The Royal Opera will be performing two concerts of the piece, which is set in ancient Ceylon and brings together the volatility of passion and jealousy to create a show the venue says offers "wonderful choruses and solos, all coloured with musical exoticism that evokes the setting".
Conducted by music director of The Royal Opera Antonio Pappano and featuring soloists Nicole Cabell Gerald Finley and John Osborn - making his Royal Opera debut - the performances are also a great chance for visitors to London to hear the "magnificent" voices of the Royal Opera Chorus.
Before heading to the venue, guests at the Montague on the Gardens who have booked the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to enjoy a two-course barbeque meal for two, or alternatively pick a complimentary bottle of chilled Champagne and share a toast in their room on arrival.
