Event: The Cape Town International Kite Festival at the Zandvlei Picnic Area
Date: October 23rd-24th
A relaxing trip to Cape Town is an ideal time to try activities there simply isn't time for during everyday life.
And in October visitors staying at luxury Cape Town hotel the Twelve Apostles will have a chance to relieve a favourite childhood activity at this year's Cape Town International Kite Festival.
Taking place at the Zandvlei picnic area on October 23rd and 24th, the event is the biggest of its kind in South Africa and attracts in excess of 20,000 visitors.
Among them are some of the world's biggest kiting professionals, who will be showing of their creations and flying skills over the course of the two days.
But visitors will also get the chance to try out their kite-flying abilities for themselves, while kite-making courses will also be on offer, along with what organisers describe as an "eclectic" craft and food market.
The theme of this year's festival is 'uplifting mind and body' and visitors will also be doing their bit for charity, as all profits are being donated to Cape Mental Health.
Upon returning to the hotel, guests who have opted for the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to relax with cocktails at sunset in the Leopard Bar and Lounge, or alternatively enjoy afternoon tea by the sea or a seasonal fruit basket in their room.
