Iphigenie auf Tauris at Sadler's Wells

Event: Iphigenie auf Tauris at Sadler's Wells
Date: October 27th to 31st

Intense emotion will be displayed at Sadler's Wells in October when a dance derived from an opera by Christoph Willibald Gluck is given its London premiere.

Iphigenie auf Tauris will be performed by the Tanztheater Wuppertal dance company at the London theatre between October 27th and 31st, a production that combines music, dance, chorus and solo arias to interpret Gluck's Greek tragedy.

The interpretation is the creation of Pina Bausch, who passed away last year and has been described by the Sadler's Wells website as "one of the most influential choreographers of our time".

Bausch designed the performance, which was first created in 1974 and is rarely seen on stage, with her full company in mind so as to convey the drama of Gluck's piece and her work has been praised by Le Figaro, which describe it as "pure beauty of movement and great dramatic intensity".

"Bausch is true to the text and, better still, to the music," the publication added.

Sadler's Wells is located only a short distance away from luxury London hotel the Montague on the Gardens and guests who opt for the Get More From Your Stay package will be able to enjoy complimentary traditional afternoon tea for two before they head to the venue, or alternatively receive a bottle of chilled Champagne on arrival.ADNFCR-596-ID-800042816-ADNFCR
