The work of composer Helmut Lachenmann will be celebrated at an upcoming event at the Southbank Centre, which is taking place to coincide with his 75th birthday.
Performances of the music he created will be taking place in two venues within the centre late in October, while a screening of a documentary detailing his life will also be held.
Fans of classical music planning a stay at luxury London hotel the Rubens at the Palace will be in for a treat if they attend the various shows on October 23rd and 24th, as Lachenmann Chamber Music Day on the 23rd features appearances from some of the world's best contemporary music performers, including pianist Rolf Hind, cellist Oliver Coates, violinist Clio Gould and soprano Sarah Leonard.
Mr Hind will again be behind the piano for London Sindonietta on the following day, which, according to organisers, will showcase Lachenmann's "unconventional writing that demands new techniques from established instruments".
And earlier in the afternoon, a screening of a documentary looking at Lachenmann's career will take place in the Purcell Room, giving an insight into the methods used by the celebrated composer.
