Event: Poole Literary Festival
Date: October 29th to 31st
Literary enthusiasts heading to Dorset this October will have the chance to check out a fledgling festival focusing on the written word.
Now in its second year, the Poole Literary Festival will take place in the seaside town between October 29th and 31st, with writers, artists, performers and poets coming from around the country to take part.
Events will be held in various buildings around the area, including the Lighthouse, Poole Museum and the Poole Printing Press.
Guests staying at luxury Dorset hotel the Summer Lodge who make the trip will be able to hear a reading of poems from Jeremy Hooker on Friday October 29th, while the following day sees talks and storytelling from authors such as Paul Atterbury, Daisy Goodwin and Andy McDermott at the Lighthouse, along with impromptu Shakespeare performances, music from the Bournemouth Community Gospel Choir and gardening and cooking tips from experts.
Also appearing will be Carol Ann Duffy, Britain's first female Poet Laureate, who will be hosting readings at Poole Library and the Lighthouse on the final day of the festival.
Those who book the Get More From Your Stay package at the Summer Lodge will be able to start off each day with a full English breakfast, as well as choose one offering from a range of complimentary gifts, such as a bottle of Champagne to enjoy on arrival, a romantic turndown on each evening, or either an afternoon tea or light lunch for two on one day.
