The Sanctuary Spa receives major Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers Awards

The Twelve Apostles Hotel And Spa has been voted third in the Hotel Spas Africa/Middle East and Indian Ocean section in the recent Condé Nast Traveller UK Readers’ Awards. This prestigious survey polls the country’s best-travelled and most discerning spa users, which gives the award, added weight and significance.

The competition has never been stiffer, with hotel spas in the designated area - from the fleshpots of Dubai to the exotic resorts of Mauritius and the Maldives – among the best in the world.  This further highlights the achievement of a third place in the category. The Twelve Apostles Hotel And Spa won a 92% approval rating and was, in fact, the only Spa in Africa to win an award.

Aptly named The Sanctuary Spa, it is situated alongside the hotel only a few metres from the Atlantic Ocean in an underground grotto on the slopes of Table Mountain. The spa uses the energies of its surrounding environment and enhances them with world-class treatments and products to invigorate from within. Leading Hotels of the World designated it as a Leading Spa for 2005 and 2006.  Clarins, recognizing its unique location and philosophy, chose the Sanctuary Spa as the first destination Spa on the African coast to specialise in their new international Spa products. 
 
Sandblasted glass walkovers complete with light therapy on the lower level lead you into the grotto where the eye is drawn between rock pillars to a rest area. The Upper Sanctuary consists of seven treatment rooms equipped with sound and light therapy.

The spa uses Moya Products – exclusively prepared indigenous products and oils from the Cape’s purest plant extracts – and combines them with Clarins’s superior product range. In addition to the more usual therapies, the spa offers Dead Sea mud wraps and Vichy water treatments. The Sanctuary Spa also boasts a brine flotation pool as well as Cape Town’s only Rasul chamber.
