Red Carnation Hotels has teamed up with Wimbledon Debenture Holders to offer the ultimate gift for a tennis lovers.  Here, a former recipient shares their account of a day to remember and a dream come true…

Wimbledon Debenture Holders

I had always wanted to go to Wimbledon and experience the drama and grandeur of a Centre Court match. Watching on TV, you can sense the atmosphere is special...but you're not there. I wanted to be part of it, close enough to appreciate the speed and grace of the players and to feel the magic in the air. On my birthday, in 2017, it finally happened. I opened an envelope and saw a gift certificate, with the words: ‘Two Wimbledon Debenture Tickets for the Men's Final.’ The icing on the cake was a two-night stay at one of the luxurious Red Carnation Hotels in London. Red Carnation Hotels offers a specially tailored Wimbledon-themed package to ensure maximum enjoyment of the entire experience. The tennis is important, very important, but Wimbledon offers so much more! The anticipation, the atmosphere, the glamour and camaraderie are not to be missed.

From the moment your Red Carnation Hotel chauffeur drives you through Wimbledon village, you can start to soak up the unique atmosphere. Tennis fans spill out of the train station in their droves and some of the men are dressed up to the nines in blazers, cravats and Panama hats, whilst ladies are chicly dressed in summer dresses, pashminas and sunglasses. Of course, you can wear something casual and comfortable too, but there's no denying it – elegant fashion adds to the sense of theatre at Wimbledon.

The chauffeur drops you off at the Debenture car park in the grounds of the All England Club, and it’s a short walk to Gate 4. There’s no need to worry about queues, just a simple security check and then you're through to the magnificent Centre Court Debenture Lounge. After being greeted by welcoming staff, you are offered a special debenture lanyard which holds your ticket throughout the day, giving you easy access to the debentures facilities, and of course the most important place of all, Centre Court. After that, treat yourself to a leisurely lunch in one of the exclusive restaurants, and then stroll to your reserved seats, a stone's throw away. You can even take your glass of Pimms with you, should you wish.

The intimacy of Centre Court is particularly striking for a first-time spectator. The Debenture seats offer such excellent views of the court, meaning that you'll see everything. You can feel the rich history in the air, the acoustics are amazing and the tension is infectious. The retractable roof is a feat of engineering genius and, though rarely used, ensures play will continue throughout the afternoon and evening. To be there, up close and personal with legends such as Roger Federer and Andy Murray, is to witness true sporting greatness and the beauty of tennis.

Once you have witnessed tennis history and watched players at the top of their game battle it out, your Red Carnation Hotel chauffeur is there to take you back to the comfort of your hotel, where you are welcomed once more by the fabulous hotel staff. For those who want to keep the spirit of the day going, there are Wimbledon-themed cocktails. For me, it was time to reflect on one of the most enjoyable days of my life and to marvel at how superbly we had been looked after, from start to finish.”
