Alec Dankworth’s World Spirit
In February, Alec Dankworth’s World Spirit tour will be stopping off at The Exchange in Sturminster Newton for one night only. Joining forces with his daughter Emily Dankworth, expect to experience an interesting blend of African and South American melodies inflected with Dankworth’s signature Jazz style.

Jason Miller: New Paintings and Sculpture
For a tranquil day out in Dorset, visit local artist Jason Miller’s exhibition at The Lighthouse in Poole. Spanning sculpture, watercolour and large-scale paintings, Jason’s works explore the effect of light and abstraction, as well as the relationship between balance and vulnerability.

Moscow Ballet: Swan Lake
Returning after a sell-out performance of Sleeping Beauty in 2014, Moscow Ballet – La Classique are back at The Octagon with a captivating performance of Swan Lake. Admire the beautiful costumes and chorography, and immerse yourself in the fairy tale fantasies of this classic ballet.

Andrew Lawrence at Bridport Arts
The ideal antidote to winter, celebrate the arrival of spring with some stand-up comedy courtesy of Andrew Lawrence. A regular on BBC1’s ‘Live at the Apollo’ and Channel 4’s Stand-Up For The Week, Lawrence will be touching down at the Bridport Arts Centre for one of the most anticipated Dorset events this spring.

Weldmar Colour Run
It’s not just the flowers that will be bursting with colour this spring as Lodmoor Country Park welcomes Weymouth’s very first Colour Run. Raising money for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, you’re invited to run, hop, skip or dance your way through the powder paint stations positioned along the 4km route. White t-shirts are provided, so you can turn yourself from blank canvas to colourful masterpiece.

The Great Easter Dinosaur Egg Hunt
If you’re in Dorset over Easter with the kids, this one’s compulsory. With the Jurassic history of the coast on your doorstep, it’s only fitting to visit the Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester for a fossil-themed egg hunt. Featuring life-size dinosaur reconstructions and interactive exhibits, it’ll be an Easter they won’t forget.

The Lyme Regis Fossil Festival
At first glance this may not appear to be the most exciting of Dorset events, but dig a little deeper and you might just change your mind. Sponsored by the Natural History Museum, this Jurassic extravaganza will take place at Lyme Regis with street theatre, giant dinosaur puzzles, rock-pooling and more.
