Whisky Nosing and Tasting
Journey into the world of whisky at The Chesterfield Mayfair sumptuous Terrace Bar, where the gWhisky Nosing and Tastin menu will guide you through a selection of fine distillations that include America’s smooth rye, a sophisticated Canadian blend and Japan’s prestigious 12-year-old Yamazaki single malt. Closer to home, you’ll find prize distillations from the likes of Auchentoshan and Oban, and there’s also an exclusive Macallan selection for those who appreciate the very finest of single malts. Dads with a penchant for a truly refined digestif will savour every moment, making The Terrace Bar a must on your day’s itinerary.
Speedboat down the thames
For those who like their adventures very loud and very fast, tearing up the River Thames in a robust inflatable 740-horsepower speedboat ranks high. The Thames RIB Experience offers itineraries ranging from a 50-minute turbo-powered scream past sightseeing heavyweights such as The Shard and London Eye, to a 20-minute full-throttle Blast around the Tower and O2 – the perfect Father’s Day in London for active dads.
A more leisurely way to spend Father’s Day is aboard one of London’s narrowboats, gliding through the city’s intricate network of canals and tunnels. Chug lazily past the decorative houseboats that line Little Venice’s waterways, relaxing on deck as you watch Regent Canal’s scenery slide past, and finish your trip in Camden with a cold pint in one of the area’s bustling pubs. London Canal Museum offers a variety of canal cruises, and includes a guided saunter along London’s shaded towpaths for those who prefer to sightsee on foot.
Visit the barber
Not only with its finger on the fluttery pulse of global trends, London is also very good at timeless tailoring and classic grooming, so treat your dad to a professional shave at one of the capital’s stylish barbershops. Murdock London has shops across the city, and offers an impressive menu of men’s grooming, from a Full Service that includes a shampoo, haircut, wet shave and facial to a simple moustache or beard trim. Looking sharp, head off to browse the fine tailoring stores on Jermyn Street and Savile Row.
Bond in Motion
Calling all 007 fans! The London Film Museum in Covent Garden is home to the Bond in Motion exhibition of 100 of celebrated spy James Bond’s notoriously sexy vehicles, including the black and yellow Rolls-Royce Phantom III relic of Goldfinger fame, the head-turning Ford Mustang Mach 1 that featured in Diamonds Are Forever and the coveted Lotus Esprit S1 submarine from The Spy Who Loved Me. The exhibition is in London until 31st December 2018, so there’s plenty of time to visit if you don’t make it on Father’s Day.
