Make time for you

There are myriad ways to switch off and unwind, whether at home or on holiday. Soak in a soothing bath, lose yourself in a good book, listen to your favourite music or meditate—the options are endless. Anything that removes you from the stresses of everyday life is a method of relaxation, taking time out to relax each day is essential, even if it’s just for 15 minutes.

Nourish the body

Fuelling energy levels with wholefoods and seasonal, farm-to-fork cuisine is another of our wellness tips. Bushmans Kloof’s menus cater for all dietary requirements, with our chef creating a wide selection of inspired dishes. We are very proud of our walled garden, where we grow our own salad leaves and vegetables. The emphasis is on quality produce and infusing this into our cooking. 

Introduce gentle exercise

Be it a walk after lunch or opting for the stairs, getting at least 20 minutes of exercise per day benefits the body. There are three scenic hikes which guests can enjoy from Bushmans Kloof—the Mountain Trail, the Dassie Trail and the Ravine Trail. Be at one with nature and experience the majesty of the Fynbos from up-close. Try and spot something new—stop to smell the flowers and really take in your surroundings.

Wellness enthusiasts can make the most of Bushmans Kloof’s award-winning holistic facilities during their stay. Our relaxing wellness retreat tailors treatments to each individual’s needs. We offer targeted massages and touch therapies, holistic healings like Reiki and a chakra candle massage, sumptuous facials and skin treatments. Expect to float out feeling thoroughly de-stressed. Treatments can be arranged in our Riverside Gazebo, overlooking Boontjies River and the vast reserve beyond.

Head outdoors

Exploring the great outdoors features high on our list of wellness priorities, we always suggest guests ride a mountain bike down to the main dam or paddle out on a canoe. Enjoy a fabulous picnic, thoughtfully prepared by our chef, or perhaps try your hand at fly fishing. The dam is well stocked with sawfin and Clanwilliam yellow fish. Everything you catch is returned to the water. Alternatively, there are captivating excursions and star-gazing to be enjoyed.

Get a full night’s rest

Imperative to wellbeing is getting enough sleep at night for the body to recover. The mattress must be of a high quality to support your body weight and posture. When comfortable, you are less likely to toss and turn at night. Opening the airways and supporting the spine and neck helps, too.
