If you prefer to savor your food one mouthful at a time while truly appreciating every nuance of flavor that crosses your tongue, then attendance is mandatory at a Dégustation Dinner at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. Starting May 5, 2017, the hotel will hold these can’t-miss culinary experiences at the award-winning Azure Restaurant on the first Friday of every month.
Dégustation is defined as “the action or an instance of tasting, especially in a series of small portions.” True to form, this six-course dinner, hosted by Executive Chef Christo Pretorius, takes diners on a gustatory journey through various taste modalities and includes several of the chef’s signature dishes, plus new surprises. Each course is paired with tea or one of South Africa’s best wines, chosen by Head Sommelier and co-host Gregory Mutambe.
“These events are for all those fanatical foodies out there who truly appreciate the sensation of tasting a variety of food at a single sitting,” says Chef Pretorius. “Our menus will present a wonderful combination of flavors and textures and we guarantee a great night out.”
Space at the exclusive Chef’s Table is limited to between six and 12 guests per night. The cost to book a place is $161 (R2150) per person, inclusive of meal, wine/tea pairing, water and gratuity.
