At last…Summer is here! At The Oyster Box we’re making the most of the long days, balmy weather and slower pace, by hosting a selection of fabulous events.
Our most exciting new addition for the first quarter of the year is the monthly House of Moët Wine Cellar Dinners. Spend the evening in our exclusive wine cellar, as you embark on a truly special food and wine journey. Each course in the six-course dinner is paired with Champagne from the Moët portfolio. Available for up to 10 guests only, the Moët representative will be on hand to talk through each pairing. A truly special occasion and not to be missed!
In January, pop-ups and pizzas are on the menu. Enjoy the best of the summer weather from the fabulous Ocean Terrace and turn a casual dinner (from Monday to Thursday), into a great evening out, with one large pizza of your choice and a glass of wine at R150 per person.
The Oyster Box’s regular free Pop-up’s in the hotel lobby, have become a popular item on the calendar. Kicking off the first event of the year on 22 January, our Mixologists will give a short tutorial and tasting on the House of Belvedere, the world’s first Premium Vodka.
On 11 February, Cat Simoni’s new show, ‘Love Changes Everything’, celebrates the well-known hits from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic West End musicals Evita, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Chess and Aspects of Love, amongst others. Tickets are R350 per person and include dinner and the show.
We’re ‘going long’ on Valentine’s Day this year, to take in the entire weekend. Romance is on the menu at our three Dinner & Dance events in the Grill Room on 12, 13 and 14 February. At R950 per person, guests can enjoy a six-course plated menu, dancing to a live band and a gift.
The Oyster Box’s popular Curry and Comedy evenings are now a fixture on the hotel’s social calendar. Our first outing in 2016 features Barry Hilton aka ‘The Cousin’, appearing for one night only on 16 March. Your Curry and Comedy ticket at R550 per person includes a delicious starter platter, the Curry Buffet and a plated dessert.
Sample the handiwork of our talented pastry team, as they create a wonderland selection of Easter treats, with a themed High Tea throughout the Easter Weekend (25-28 March). High Tea is R350 per person and booking is essential.
For the entire month of April, we’re serving a traditional Lunch Buffet each Sunday in The Ocean Terrace restaurant. The Super Sunday lunch offering includes a plated starter, Buffet main course and Pizza station and a plated dessert. Lunch is R490 for adults and R200 for children under 12 years.
Our second Pop-up on 28 April, is a Cognac tasting featuring the House of Martell. Each Cognac will be paired with chocolate and hosted by the Martell ambassador.
The Oyster Box is thrilled to be hosting PJ Powers Unplugged on 29 April.
PJ aka ‘Thandeka’, has enjoyed a highly successful musical career in South Africa spanning more than 33 years. Tickets for the show are R690 per person and include dinner.
THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT ...AT THE OYSTER BOX!
The Lighthouse Bar is open daily for cocktails and snacks, with live music on Thursday and Friday evenings from18h30 - 21h30. Sit back and enjoy live music each evening (18h30 - 21h30) from Monday to Friday, in The Oyster Bar. On The Ocean Terrace, popular Wallace Nock does the honours on Saturdays from 12h00 - 15h00 and new arrival, the velvet-voiced Eric Canham, from 12h00 - 15h00 on Sundays. An a la carte menu as well as the popular Curry Buffet is served in this casual venue and it’s the perfect spot for breakfast and sundowners.
SPICE IT UP…in The Ocean Terrace
The Curry Buffet at The Oyster Box continues to attract fans from far and wide. Set in the casual, Mediterranean-inspired Ocean Terrace, with gorgeous views of the Indian Ocean, our delicious Tandoori Chicken and impressive selection of curries includes meat, fish and vegetarian options. Using delicate blends of spices and fresh herbs, each curry is a masterpiece in itself. Open for lunch and dinner.

High Tea at The Oyster Box is legendary. Our tea table is laden with sumptuous treats, from freshly baked scones, pastries and quiches, to exotic cakes, finger sandwiches and savories. Inspired by the hotel’s colonial atmosphere and the accompaniment of our pianist, The Palm Court provides the perfect backdrop for any occasion. Booking is essential.

The Evening Indulgence in The Palm Court, makes for a perfect post-dinner or late afternoon treat. Stop by the tranquil Palm Court and make your selection from an assortment of mouthwatering pastries, freshly baked scones with jam and cream and exquisite cakes, served with your choice of tea or coffee.

CHEF’S TABLE – The Kitchen
If you’re a foodie or looking for something extraordinary for a special event or occasion, join Executive Chef Kevin Joseph and members of his culinary team at The Chef’s Table. Available for bookings from from Sunday to Thursday, guests will enjoy a delicious 5-course menu for between six and ten people.

OYSTER, SALMON & SUSHI BAR – The Oyster Bar
With its long marble bar a focal point, The Oyster Bar is a popular meeting place with patrons for live music and cocktails. The new Oyster, Salmon & Sushi Bar, takes the venue to new heights. From Monday to Friday 12noon to 20h00, guests are able order a selection of Sushi, fresh Oysters, home-cured Salmon, inspired Asian Tacos, Asian Prawn Cocktail and delicious Prawns and Crayfish. Items from the a la carte Seafood Menu can be ordered individually on request…. accompanied by a glass of delicious ‘Bubbly or a cocktail.
